The parade of guests ? Fashion watching at it’s finest !
I love that these guests show a wide variety of trends, looks and most importantly are dressed “age appropiate”. Note also that the accessories and hair finish off the look wonderfully.
One of my favourite photos from a wedding is the one of the gown before it gets on the bride ! Do you have a favourite pre-ceremony photo ? We would love to see them !
So, what do you wear to a wedding when you’re part of the celebrity/fashion European crowd ? Check out these wonderful colourful Summer wedding outfits !

Love this photo of Ms. Elizabeth Taylor from the the movie “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”.
And I’m a huge fan of a slip….their hard to find but make a dress fit, wear and look a little better.
Would you wear a slip ? I’d like to hear from you on this topic.
I could not let the day go by without commmenting on the death of Ms. Elizabeth Taylor today. Not only a remarkable actress and humanitarian but for us in the wedding gown business, well……..a dream come through ! eight marriages to seven men !
And in the days of the studio system in Hollywood, typically the studio custom designer designed the bridal gown. Helen Rose not only designed Elizabeth Taylor’s wedding gown to Nicky Hilton but she also designed Grace Kelly’s iconic wedding gown along with costumes for “High Society” and “Father of the Bride” (the original!)……interesting isn’t it.
Nicole Richie used Grace Kelly as her inspiration when working with designers Marchesa for her recent nuptials to Joel Madden.
What are your thoughts on the “inspiration” ? I would love to hear from you !
Black Tie on the invitation means formal attire is expected. Tuxedos for men and cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates for the ladies.
Formal on the invitation typically means the same as Black Tie, however in some bigger, more fashion forward cities (NYC, LA) it could mean a dark shirt (for men). Women will still wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates,
Cocktail Attire on the invitation implies short, elegant dresses for the ladies and dark suits for gentlemen.
Black Tie Optional or Black Tie Invited on the invitation allows you to choose either Black Tie or Formal for both men and women.
If you are still puzzled about the exact level of formality required (especially you ladies) consideration the couple themselves, what is their personal style ? And do consider where the ceremony and reception is being held.
And remember, have some fun with your attire and keep your shoes on ladies, no running around in your stocking feet, unless it’s a beach wedding !
